Dr Martinez only does ADHD assessments.

If needed, yes. However, he does not prescribe medication for those who are not his patients.

There are two ways of approaching ADHD:

  • With medication
  • With Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) specialized in ADHD

You need to have an assessment with Dr Martinez, so he can confirm the diagnosis and continue with your treatment as a regular patient of Dr Martinez.

After you have booked your session, you will need to fill some forms:

  • One with your personal details
  • Some forms about yourself and your childhood
  • Same forms about yourself and your childhood but that must be filled in by a friend or relative of yours to get someone else’s point of view.
  • If you are positive for ADHD, Dr Martinez will request an examination that has to be carried out by your GP stating that you’re fit for the medication. Once you start the medication, you will need to have a follow-up session three weeks later to review it and when the correct dosage and medication have been found, you will need a review at least every six months.

Assessments are for new patients who do not have a previous diagnosis by Dr. Martinez. Follow-up sessions are for Dr Martinez’s patients who have already been diagnosed and just need a review.

Dr Martinez does not have any agreement with an insurance/healthcare. However, most patients claim a refund with a receipt of the sessions/prescriptions.

You should ask your pharmacist how it works, since some pharmacies take prescriptions sent through Healthmail as automatically valid for your medical card. However, other pharmacies work differently and you might need that your GP transcribes the prescription in order to get the benefit from the medical card.

Booking:

There is no waiting/cancellation list. During the first week of every month, the agenda for the following month becomes available.

GP referrals are not needed to book an appointment.

Dr Martinez schedule is from Monday to Friday.

Please, bear in mind that Dr Martinez works with adults only, +18 y.o. Also, we’d rather have direct contact with the patient.

Prescriptions:

If you are not a patient of Dr. Martinez and require a prescription for your already diagnosed ADHD, you must first undergo an ADHD Assessment with Dr. Martinez. This assessment is essential to determine the right medication and dosage for your condition. To get started, please create an account and schedule an assessment.

If you are already a patient of Dr. Martinez and are undergoing a titration process, it means you are in the initial phase of finding the correct medication and dosage. This process typically takes around 8 weeks and involves gradual dose adjustments.

  • Week 4: After starting the medication, you will need to complete a Treatment Monitoring Form, which can be found in your account.

  • Weeks 6-8: You will also need to schedule a follow-up session to review your treatment progress with Dr. Martinez. You will be asked to book this follow up session before starting the titration process. To book your follow-up session, please use this link.

If Methylphenidate does not prove suitable for your needs, Dr. Martinez may recommend trying a different medication, following a similar process.

If you are an existing patient of Dr. Martinez, have completed the titration process, and have stabilized your medication dosage, you can request a prescription renewal. To do so, please log in to your account and submit a prescription renewal request using this link.

Please note that it is mandatory to have a follow-up session every 6 months. If more than 6 months have passed since your last follow-up, a prescription renewal will not be possible. You can schedule a follow-up appointment using this link.

The validity of prescriptions in other European Union (EU) countries depends on the type of medication prescribed by Dr. Martinez. As Dr. Martinez is registered with the Irish Medical Council (Registration Number 418118), prescriptions for first-line ADHD medications such as Ritalin LA or Tyvense are valid only in Ireland.

However, if you are outside of Ireland and require medication, you can contact your local general practitioner (GP) who may be able to transcribe Dr. Martinez's prescriptions for you. Prescriptions for second-line ADHD medications like Guanfacine, Atomoxetine, and Modafinil may be valid in other EU countries, but it's advisable to check with your local healthcare provider for specific regulations.
